Meaningful social relationships are essential to good health and well-being, especially during one’s senior years.

Social isolation and loneliness are caused by many factors, including living alone, health problems and disability, and sensory impairment such as hearing loss.

Roughly half of seniors with vision problems are more socially isolated due to a fear of falling.
